Hinckley Ladies Netball Club (HLNC) Committee: 2021/2022
Caron takes over the Senior Chair role in our 21/22 season having served a Facilities Officer for the past two seasons. She returned to playing netball in her late twenties after nearly a decade break. A HLNC member since 2013, she is looking forward to building on the great work of her predecessor to continue to improve the HLNC member experience (in all forms!). Away from netball, Caron enjoys skiing, hiking, reading and spending time in her garden.
Chloe & Katie Phillips
Chloe and Katie started in our junior team, and are now both progressing through our senior teams as they get stronger and stronger in their positions. Luckily for us, after doing such a great job representing our junior teams for two seasons, they have both stepped up to become our Junior Chair this season.
Their favourite thing about the club is “the community spirit and how friendly everyone is”. Outside of netball, they are season ticket holders for Leicester City FC, and juggle their Saturdays with playing netball and watching football. They’re also completing a Level 2 coaching qualification during the 2021/22 season.
Vice Chairwoman & COVID-19 Officer
Emma has been a member of HLNC since 2004, and has had many committee roles over the years. Emma’s favourite thing about the club is “the people and the passion,” and is most known by our members as the one most likely to turn up late(!). She has finally been successful in the London marathon ballot (after many attempts) and so is currently training for a marathon in any of her remaining spare time – whenever it goes ahead!
Emma has also taken on the new position of ‘COVID-19 Officer’, and so will be working through all England Netball and government advice to help us all have a safe return to netball. Look out for her updates!
Having first become involved with the club through watching her daughters’ play for one of our teams (and previously being their taxi!), Andrea has now become our treasurer. She enjoys going to watch LCFC with her family, and walking her dog. Andrea says that whilst having played Netball in her younger years, she now prefers to watch it from the sidelines and sit at a desk dealing with the numbers!
Zoe Stokes-Merry and Anita King
Anita is a long-standing member of HLNC, having been part of our club for over 20 years. She originally took up netball as “a way to get some ‘me’ time, to get fit and make new friends” and it now forms a large part of her life. Outside of netball, Anita “enjoys spending quality family time, having lots of holidays and playing tennis.”
Anita is also one of our safeguarding officers and can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Zoe plays a key part in our committee by making sure we are organised and efficient in everything that we do. Outside of netball, Zoe also volunteers backstage at theater productions and spends time with friends and husband.
Carole Payne (CP)
CP has been playing for HLNC since 1995, and has taken on the role of Fixtures Secretary for as long as most of us can remember! According to CP, “if I’m not playing netball I’m usually running round after my daughter, literally. However, I do like to knit as well as play darts and the odd game of badminton.” CP is one of the most well-known members of the entire Coventry & North Warwickshire league, and was very deservedly presented with a ‘Special Persons’ award at the 2018 league presentation to recognise her hard work, commitment and support towards netball (and in particular for HLNC!).
Lucy Marsden & Chloe Sansome
Lucy joined Hinckley Ladies as a junior member in 2008 and has been with us ever since (apart from a brief break for Uni!). She loves HLNC because it has great community atmosphere and she’s “made friends for life here”. Outside of netball she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, exploring bookshops and baking cakes.
Chloe, like Lucy, started as a junior member at Hinckley Ladies in 2008. Hinckley Ladies has always been her “netball family” and coming back to play for them recently after finishing Uni has been like “coming home”. Outside of netball she loves spending time with her two (gorgeous) spaniels, crafts and the gym.
Sponsorship and Grants Officer
Jen first joined HLNC back in 2002 for a season before leaving the country to pursue working and travelling abroad for a few years. Jen has always been bak to visit between her travels, doing a couple of seasons when time allowed and she has kept in touch over the year with many of our longstanding members! As well as netball, Jen is an avid football fan and regularly follows her team Leicester City home and away! Jen is very enthused to be a new member of our committee team.
Jen is also one of our safeguarding officers and also one of our events & tournaments officers and can be contacted at email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org
Events & Tournaments Officers
Lucy Mortiboys, Megan Smith & Jen Paulley
Lucy first joined HLNC in 2009 as a junior member for a few seasons, before re-joining the club in 2019 via our ‘Back to Netball’ scheme. She is now “super happy that I’m back doing what I love and have made so many close friends that are for life”, so “highly recommends” our ‘Back to Netball’ scheme to everyone! Outside of netball, she spends most of her time with friends and family and going for walks with her dog Archie, who particularly enjoys spectating our Saturday matches.
Meg also joined through our ‘Back to Netball’ 2019 sessions and has made some great friends in the club in just her first season. This is her first committee role with HLNC, and with everyone being keen to have any form of events back up and running, we are sure both Lucy & Meg will have an interesting first season coming up with new ideas for our club!
Facilities and Kit Officer
Sophie Kenney & Darcey Arrowsmith
Sophie is another new member of our junior team, starting out in our U14 junior section and now entering her fourth season with the club. Her favourite aspect of netball is “being part of a team and meeting new people,” as well as it being a good way to keep her active.
Junior Team Representative(s)
Holly Hemsley, Eboni Clarke & Emily Moyo
Holly has been a member of the club for over 14 years now and is still “absolutely loving it!” Starting at the club as a junior, she has always wanted to help out as much as she can with the junior section – bringing in the young players and then encouraging them to continue on into seniors as she did years ago. This upcoming season she will be attending a level 2 coaching course and will be coaching both junior and some senior sessions.
