Our committee

Hinckley Ladies Netball Club (HLNC) Committee: 2020/2021

Chairwoman

This season we are trialing having both a senior and junior chairperson to help manage the two sections of our club.

Senior Chairwoman

 Lucy Masser

Following two seasons of being club co-chairwoman, Lucy is now the senior Chairwoman for HLNC, mainly dealing with senior updates, training, fixtures and events. Lucy has been a HLNC member for 12 years, originally starting out as a junior member and progressing into the senior teams. Their main aim for this season (besides getting through all the new COVID regulations!) is to inject a sense of fun and community into the club and to provide quality coaching to ensure all players are able to develop and grow their netball skills with us.

Junior Chairwoman

Holly Hemsley

Following two seasons of being club co-chairwoman, Holly is now the junior Chairwoman for HLNC, mainly dealing with junior updates, training, fixtures and events. Holly has been a HLNC member for 14 years, also originally starting out as a junior member and progressing into the senior teams. Their main aim for this season (besides getting through all the new COVID regulations!) is to inject a sense of fun and community into the club and to provide quality coaching to ensure all players are able to develop and grow their netball skills with us.

Vice Chairwoman & COVID-19 Officer

Emma Draycott

Emma has been a member of HLNC since 2004, and has had many committee roles over the years. Emma’s favourite thing about the club is “the people and the passion,” and is most known by our members as the one most likely to turn up late(!). She has finally been successful in the London marathon ballot (after many attempts) and so is currently training for a marathon in any of her remaining spare time – whenever it goes ahead!

Emma has also taken on the new position of ‘COVID-19 Officer’, and so will be working through all England Netball and government advice to help us all have a safe return to netball. Look out for her updates!

Treasurer

Mia Fryer

Mia has thrown herself into the deep end this season by taking on her first committee role, and definitely not picking an easy one! Mia joined the club through our Back to Netball scheme, and quickly became a core member of her team and the club in her first season in the senior league. She has also recently moved into her first home so has spent lots of time organising her house.

Secretary

Zoe Stokes-Merry and Anita King

Anita is a long-standing member of HLNC, having been part of our club for over 20 years. She originally took up netball as “a way to get some ‘me’ time, to get fit and make new friends” and it now forms a large part of her life. Outside of netball, Anita “enjoys spending quality family time, having lots of holidays and playing tennis.”

Anita is also our safeguarding officer and can be contacted around any safeguarding concerns on: safeguarding@hinckleyladiesnetball.com.

Zoe plays a key part in our committee by making sure we are organised and efficient in everything that we do. Outside of netball, Zoe also volunteers backstage at theater productions and spends time with friends and husband.

Fixtures Secretary

Carole Payne (CP)

CP has been playing for HLNC since 1995, and has taken on the role of Fixtures Secretary for as long as most of us can remember! According to CP, “if I’m not playing netball I’m usually running round after my daughter, literally. However, I do like to knit as well as play darts and the odd game of badminton.” CP is one of the most well-known members of the entire Coventry & North Warwickshire league, and was very deservedly presented with a ‘Special Persons’ award at the 2018 league presentation to recognise her hard work, commitment and support towards netball (and in particular for HLNC!).

Communications Officer

Lucy Marsden

Lucy joined Hinckley Ladies as a junior member in 2008 and has been with us since (apart from a brief break for Uni!). She loves HLNC because “it’s a super supportive club” and she’s “made friends for life here”. Outside of netball she enjoys spending time with her family and friends and is currently working to complete a British Sign Language course.

Sponsorship and Grants Officer

Steph Morton

Steph joined Hinckley Ladies through our back to netball scheme, quickly improving more and more to now be a key defender in our B team. Outside of netball, Steph is currently working towards a PhD(!) and also participates in rugby and horse riding with her friends, so generally likes to keep herself busy.

Events and Tournaments Officer(s)

Lucy Mortiboys and Megan Smith

Lucy first joined HLNC in 2009 as a junior member for a few seasons, before re-joining the club in 2019 via our ‘Back to Netball’ scheme. She is now “super happy that I’m back doing what I love and have made so many close friends that are for life”, so “highly recommends” our ‘Back to Netball’ scheme to everyone! Outside of netball, she spends most of her time with friends and family and going for walks with her dog Archie, who particularly enjoys spectating our Saturday matches.

Meg also joined through our ‘Back to Netball’ 2019 sessions and has made some great friends in the club in just her first season. This is her first committee role with HLNC, and with everyone being keen to have any form of events back up and running, we are sure both Lucy & Meg will have an interesting first season coming up with new ideas for our club!

Facilities and Kit Officer

Caron Ogden

This is Caron’s second season on our committee, and after completing a mammoth to-do list last season (new balls, new shed,  total court resurface (they’re now blue!) and lots of new kit), she is thankfully stepping up to the role again. Being one of the most organised people we have ever met, Caron is quick to capture any gravel, moss or weeds that dare to enter our courts, and replace any equipment we deem to be un-satisfactory!

Junior Representative

Lucy Ibbetson

Lucy has been a member of HLNC since 2009 when she started out as a junior in Year 7. Her favourite things about the club is “the friendhsips I have made throughout the years”; “the many events outside of training” and of course “games are amazing too”. Outside of netball, Lucy loves to bake and has recently started up her own baking business called Lucy Mays Delights. Check them out if you’re local to our area!

Junior Team Representative(s)

Chloe Phillips, Katie Phillips, Mollie Trott, Sophie Kenney

Chloe and Katie started in our junior team, and are now both progressing through our senior teams as they get stronger and stronger in their positions. Luckily for us, after doing such a great job representing our U16 teams last year, this is now their second season in the role. Their favourite thing about the club is “the community spirit and how friendly everyone is”. Outside of netball, they are season ticket holders for Leicester City FC, and juggle their Saturdays with playing netball and watching football. In the near future, they’re also hoping to complete a Level 2 coaching qualification.

Mollie is a new member of our junior team, joining HLNC when she was 14 and now progressing into our senior teams. Outside of netball she loves to throw herself into fitness and enjoys learning about the importance of health. Her favourite aspect of netball is “definitely the social side” and “some of the most important people” to her are those she met through the club.

Sophie is another new member of our junior team, starting out in our U14 junior section and now entering her fourth season with the club. Her favourite aspect of netball is “being part of a team and meeting new people,” as well as it being a good way to keep her active.
