Becoming a member of Hinckley Ladies Netball Club

Can anyone be a member of Hinckley Ladies Netball Club?

We welcome players aged 11 and over of all abilities and experience, whether you are new to netball or have played regularly for some years, our club offers you the opportunity to develop your skills.

Can I come along to a training session without committing?

For all new players the first session is free. We have players commitment ranging from ‘social players’ who only attend ad-hoc training sessions, to fully-committed team players who are with us every Wednesday and Saturday for training and matches. Your commitment levels are your choice.

I haven’t played netball since school…

Hinckley Ladies Netball Club caters for all, whatever your age, experience or ability. 

When can I come to training?

Juniors training (for players aged 11-16) is held on a Wednesday evening 6:00-7:25.

Seniors training (for players aged 16+) is held on a Wednesday evening 7:30pm – 9:00pm.

Training sessions are held at our home ground within the Leicester Road Sports Ground complex in Hinckley (LE10 3DR).

What should I wear to training?

Appropriate sports clothing should be worn to allow movement, sports trainers are also a requirement (note: pump style shoes are not suitable). 

What should I do before training/playing?

For the safety of all, players must ensure all jewellery is removed, hair is securely tied back and nails are cut short. Our coaches will check these with you prior to commencement of your training session/game.

How much does it cost to play?

Players are welcome to join the club as training only members or competing members. It is £3 per training session for non-members. If you would like to become a full member, see our player documents for full details.

About the game of Netball

How long is a netball match?

The game consists of 4 quarters of 15 minutes each with an interval of 3 minutes between the 1st-2nd and 3rd-4th quarters. Teams change ends each quarter; the half time interval is 5 minutes long. Please note that for juniors, the game is 4 quarters of 12 minutes.

How long is the season?

The season starts in September and runs through to the middle of April.

When are matches played?

Teams compete in the Coventry & Warwickshire Netball Association League; matches are played on Saturdays (senior matches) and Sundays (Junior matches) between October and April. Game times will be either 10:30am, 12:45 or 3:00pm, at our home grounds or an away venue. For a full calendar of playing dates visit CWNA

Where are matches played?

Our home fixtures are played at our courts situated within the Leicester Road Sports Ground complex, Hinckley, LE10 3DR. Away fixtures are played at the oppositions grounds at venues in the Coventry & Warwickshire area.

Do you still play in the rain?

Training and matches are played on outdoor, all-weather courts. We do, sometimes have to cancel due to adverse weather conditions including freezing temperatures, ice and snow but we do try to notify everyone as early as possible.
