Tournaments & Events

Tournaments provide an ideal opportunity to play netball of a different nature with quick turnaround, short matches and a varying standard. We welcome diversity and both hold and participate in a wide variety of tournaments throughout the year. Events is also part of what makes our club great- be that our pre-season socials, our Christmas Party or our presentation evening, there’s plenty of chances to get together.

Tournaments

League Tournament

At Hinckley Ladies, we field teams every season for the Evelyn Fisher End of Season tournament for the Coventry and Warwickshire League, which is typically held in April. Teams generally play within their division and tournament winners are announced at the annual awards evening. This is a ‘handicap tournament’ and so provides a great End of Season challenge for all our members.

Beth’s Tournament

We are very proud to hold our annual mixed netball tournament in memory of a past member, Beth Richards. This tournament has been a permanent fixture since 2007 and sees men join in the fun of playing netball, being hosted each May. A highly entertaining and good-spirited tournament, we welcome teams of 4 men/3 women or vice versa to participate. Look out for updates on our Facebook page for entering a team closer to the time.

Hosted by us!

The world truly is our oyster by having our very own home ground. As a result of this, we are able to host our own tournaments, bring netball to our local community and raise the profile of our club. Alongside multiple inter-club tournaments during the season (involving both junior and senior members), we are always looking to sneak extra tournament opportunities into people’s diaries.

Participating in!

We are always on the look out for tournaments that we can enter a team into, whether this be local or a bit further afield.

We regularly participate in tournaments held by teams in our league, Griff and Coton and Stockton. These are held during the summer months, which keep our netball minds active whilst in a break from the winter season.

Events

Tour

Travelling is not a barrier for us; we will play netball wherever we can find it. Recent tours have included Chester, Skegness, Manchester and Essex, all with the right balance of netball and social, with some questionable fancy dress usually thrown into the mix! Great fun is had by all, and we all love collecting the signature tour hoody or t-shirt!

Pre/ Post Season Socials

To celebrate both the start and end of a season, we always try to bring the club together. Be that with our annual ‘Chips Quiz Night’ to start the season, or our team socials at the end, there’s plenty of things going on. Recent team socials have included cocktail making, crazy golf, escape rooms, bowling, and a typical bar-crawl (for our over 18’s only obviously!).

England Netball/ Vitality Netball Superleague Matches

Depending on what events there are in the season calendar, our committee is always trying to sign us up to attend top level netball matches. Typically we will try to organise a few local super league matches to watch (most of our players support either Coventry based Wasps or Loughborough Lightning!). Over the recent years, we also had 20 members venture to Liverpool for a long weekend watching the Netball World Cup (2019), and another 20 members attending the Netball Nations Cup in Nottingham (2020). With the Commonwealth Games being hosted in Birmingham in 2022, we are hoping that as many of us as possible can watch England bring home the gold again – fingers crossed!

Christmas Party

December wouldn’t be complete without a HLNC Christmas party and Christmas themed tournament. We change venues and style each year, so keep an eye on our Facebook page for details on this years event closer to the time.

End of Season Presentation Night

What better way to celebrate the end of a season than having a chance to dress up and see each other out of netball gear? All playing members get to vote in our end of season awards, and a large range of awards are then presented on the evening, alongside a good disco to help dance the night away.
