Saturday 10th December – HLNC Match Report

Hinckley Ladies B team expected a tough away game against the undefeated Highway C for their last game of 2016. Taking to the court in a rearranged formation due to injury, with substitute Jess Rainbow stepping up from C team to control centre court and Caron Ogden switching to GD the B’s battled to find the consistency required against the structured and drilled opposition. The half time score of 24-7 made for a challenging second half but with further changes to the line up and Nicola Coulson’s debut as GS, HLNC worked tirelessly and kept up the fight to the final whistle. With a final score of 39-18, player of the match was awarded to GA Darcey Arrowsmith for taking every opportunity to shoot against a very strong defensive duo.

Hinckley C came out fighting more than ever this week against Offchurch, with their whole team giving everything to gain an upper hand. Amazing work from Hinckley’s defence made the game hard work for the opposition and Hinckley’s attack also worked hard to maintain the lead and take full advantage of their possession in the game. Offchurch fought back getting the score within four goals in the third quarter, however this was quickly overturned and Hinckley regained a sizeable lead. Final score Hinckley 50 Offchurch 30. Player of the match was GA Emily Harrison.

The D team were away this week at Ambleside. They started strong in damp conditions taking a slight advantage. The second quarter was not favourable for Hinckley as the strong Ambleside defence pressurised the attackers, creating a few turnovers. After composing during the half time interval the D’s came back on for the third quarter with fire in their bellies, they knew they had to work hard after falling behind. They played that quarter with fight and determination ending the quarter in the lead but knowing that Ambleside would be coming back for the final quarter and throwing everything at them. Sticking to the game plan in hand the D’s played the last quarter with tight defensive work from GK Emma Draycott and player of the match Leanne Evans at GD. Final score was a win for the D team 45-40.
