Saturday 12th November – HLNC Match Report

Hinckley Ladies C team claimed an early lead in their match against Synergy C this week, with the team working well together to get the ball into the attacking end and putting pressure on the opposition. Despite being ahead at half time, the third quarter saw Hinckley struggling while Synergy narrowly took the lead. With a few changes made to the Hinckley side, they came out fighting once more for the final quarter, a very tense last fifteen minutes eventually ended with a final Score of 34-34. Player of the match was GA Emily Harrison.

The D team took to the court with a determination and control that saw them take an early lead to the game. The second quarter saw Hinckley slightly increasing the lead with well timed passes and the defence working in unison together to pressurise Offchurch’s attackers. Many rebounds were overturned, passes were connected with and because of this Hinckley had more opportunities and possession throughout the match. Coming into the third quarter, Offchurch made a strike to reduce the score deficit with good passes across the court but Hinckley D remained undeterred. They cemented their lead pulling away strong in the final quarter. Keeping their calm and playing their game, Hinckley kept the pressure on until the final whistle cementing a convincing win 45-29. POM went to Sue Leys who worked tirelessly over the court to win many interceptions and then feeding accurate balls into Hinckley’s attackers.

Hinckley E played Jaguar Land Rover away this week.  The match started at a fast pace and Jaguar were ahead 11-7 as they finished the first quarter. During the second, Hinckley’s defence intercepted many balls, limiting Jaguar’s shooting opportunities.  Hinckley’s attack linked well with some quick passing into the goal circle allowing Hinckley to bring back the score at half time to 16 all. In the third quarter play was evenly matched but once again Jaguar pulled away by a further 5 goals. Hinckley made a change at WD for the final quarter but despite some great shooting, Hinckley could not close the gap. With the final score 35–41 in Jaguars’s favour it was a frustrating end to the match as Hinckley felt they deserved more from this game.  Player of the match went to Ella Wilkinson at GK for her excellent reading of the game, many interceptions and fantastic lean.

Hinckley H took on Griff & Coton this week, but were without their influential Goal Defence Steph Morton .From the off it was a very evenly matched game. Neither side were able find a strong interception to interrupt play and tip the balance in their team’s favour and both sides were falling foul of the umpires whistles with unforced errors.  Hinckley’s Goal Shooter Sam Davis, put in another strong performance with accurate shooting and great movement in the circle which earned her Player of the Match, but she didn’t get enough opportunities to make an impact on the scoreline. Going into the final quarter, Griff were just one goal ahead, but they made a tactical move to bring on a much more experienced player who closed down chances for Hinckley to feed into their circle, and it was this substitution that allowed Griff to nudge ahead to win the match 25-20.
