The Hinckley Hornettes were on top form once again at the mid week back to netball league on Wednesday. Meeting Bramcote Swans at home, the Hinckley team started as they meant to go on, scoring 11 goals in the first quarter to 3 from the opposing team.
With strong shooters in Aly Steel, Tracey Pallet, Fiona Holliland and Katie Foster, coupled with excellent mid-court back up from Sarah Ward, Ede Roche and Leanne Easdown the Hornettes continued on a winning streak, scoring 15 goals in each of the last two quarters. Teamed with brilliant defence from Anna Ball, Claire Chaudri and Verity Skelton meaning the Swans had little opportunity to score.
For the first time the Hornettes reached the elusive 50 goals, winning the match, with Swans scoring 12. Player of the match was awarded to Tracey Pallett. The Hornettes have come a long way from this time last year when they had all just started back-to-netball sessions.
