Saturday 15th October – HLNC Match Report

With the A team their Goal Attack down, Darcey Arrowsmith stepped up from the B team to face Stockton. Hinckley A started with a storm leading 11-6 at the end of the first quarter. They continued to progress and improve throughout the game and this was not just down to the forever flowing attack taking their chances. The defensive duo of Kate Chamberlain and Alice Roche only allowed Stockton to let in two goals in the 3rd quarter taking  it to 38-12 to Hinckley. Hinckley held this performance and progressed it even further by playing some very good netball, scoring a whopping 19 goals in the last quarter to make the final score 57-20. POM Ashleigh Oakes.

It was the day of the first of many local derby matches, with Hinckley having three teams in the same division this year. A solid, strong Hinckley D team  took to the courts against the much respected Hinckley B ,dictating the play by taking the lead of 10 in the 1st 2 quarters. Both defensive teams worked tirelessly to overturn centres and intercepted passes .  A change of player in the B team for the third quarter  meant fresh legs and helped them to decrease the lead by overturning a few of the centres but the D’s held tight chasing every ball down to secure their third win in a row for the season! Player of the match went to Sue Ley for Hinckley D and joint POM for Hinckley B went to Anna Kinsella and Denise Ibbetson.

Hinckley C had a tough game this week against Highway, as Highway dominated the play from the start and Hinckley struggled to keep up. Fighting for every ball, Hinckley were giving everything to try and regain possession and control of the game. Despite the team linking up well it wasn’t enough this week with the score not reflecting the hard work from every player. The final score was Hinckley 17 – 52 Highway, player of the match GA Emily Harrison.

The F’s were back out in force, away against C&NW this week. Despite a strong first quarter, the F’s were overpowered by a very physically dominant team. Nevertheless the F’s continued fighting and there were some fantastic interceptions by Claire Chaudhuri in centre court. Some moving around of the team formation at half-time, gave Hinckley a fresh boost of energy but sadly it wasn’t enough to pull back the score which finished 34-15 to C&NW. POM went to the the very agile Katie Eaves at GA.

The G & H teams both played their second matches in the Warwickshire Midweek League this week.  The G team took an early lead against Griff & Coton.  Strong shooting from Aly Steele kept adding to the scoreline and Hinckley never looked troubled.  A solid performance from the defenders, especially from Verity Skelton whose first time in the GD bib earnt her the POM accolade, Hinckley recorded an easy 31 – 13 win to notch up 2 out of 2 for the season so far.

In only their second ever match, the newly formed H team showed that they had learned alot from the previous week and applied it straight away in their match against Bramcote Swans.  The attacking trio showed some slick and fast interplay in and out of the circle which is an encouraging sign for the season ahead.  Young Charlie Bowman, in her first season out of juniors, showed maturity as GK, reading the game well with turnovers in the circle, but it was another strong performance from Steph Morton at GD that again saw her named POM.  A great confidence boosting win of 38-16 for the team to take into next week
