Saturday 8th October – HLNC Match Report

Hinckley’s B team got off to a slow but steady start with some great play around the court by all members of the team. Alec high started to pull away from the off due to some accurate shooting by their attack. Hinckley quickly picked themselves up and fought hard for every ball, this was shown by a fantastic 4th quarter, unfortunately it ended in a loss of 30-26. Player of the match, goal attack Darcey Arrowsmith.

Hinckley Ladies A team started confidently in their match against Leamington C this Saturday. They played a controlled and steady attacking game, ending the first quarter 15-12. Multiple interceptions during the second quarter by the Goal Defence Kate chamberlain and wing Attack Ashleigh Oakes meant Hinckley kept the pressure on a tough Leamington side ending the second quarter 30-30. Half time saw a position reshuffle and welcomed back Bec Mayfield from WD to GA, Hinckley’s dynamic shooting duo continued to widen the goal gap and the team went into the fourth quarter 47 – 37 ahead. The final quarter continued to see the team settle in for the season ahead ending the game 58-49 with Ashleigh ‘go gadget arms’ Oakes voted player of the match.

 

A tough game for Hinckley C against Ambleside F, the match was very even throughout with consistency from both teams. At half time Hinckley were behind by two goals but the team continued to work hard to try and get the upper hand, working well together to get the ball from defence to the attacking end. The last quarter showed Hinckley fighting for every ball, pushing hard to do anything to get the needed turnover in play. However this fell short with the final score, Hinckley 36-38 Ambleside, player of the match was Centre Jess Rainbow for her relentless energetic performance in both attack and defence.

 

Good timing and communication meant that Hinckley D controlled the game from the off.Timing and strong defending contributed to numerous turn overs to build up an impressive lead. Hinckley were confident in their ability and with a determination to bring home another win. Tactical possession play in the final quarter kept Hinckley well ahead at the final whistle. Pom went to Bethany Willars.

 

The F’s had a slightly nervous start to their first full match as a team against Rugby Railway D. The opposition quickly gathered pace and Hinckley went down 12-2 in the first quarter. After a team reshuffle Hinckley started gaining confidence and become more dominant in both ends of the court. Some fantastic centre court work by Emily Lawrie and Amy Hemsworth kept driving the ball forward. With great determination Hinckley continued trying to pull the goals back but were up against a very strong Rugby defence. Great team work kept the positivity at a high. However, Rugby won this round with a 45-23 score, POM went to Jodie Smith at GK.
