Wednesday 25th November – HLNC Hornettes Match Report

The Hinckley Hornettes battled hard againstHighway in the third match of the Wednesday night Flexi League. With aresilient attacking team made up of Aly Steele and Tracey Pallett shooting,backed up in Wing Attack by Leanne Easdown and Centre Fiona Holliland,there were many opportunities to score.

Highway found it difficult to penetratethe Hornettes defensive line made up of Katie Foster, Ede Roche and SarahWard. Despite strong play from all members, the lead slipped away in thefinal quarter, with the Hornettes losing 17-19.  Joint Player of theMatch went to Tracey Pallett, Goal Attack and Sarah Ward, Goal Keeper.

Saturday 21st November – HLNC Match Report

Away at LMR Rugby A, Hinckley A team started out strong, managing to gain a great lead at the start of the first quarter through great court play, defence and shooting. Despite LMR beginning to convert towards the end of the first quarter bringing back some goals, Hinckley maintained the lead 8-4 at the end of the quarter. The cold and the wind started to affect Hinckley and despite great defensive work, Hinckley struggled to take the ball down court to the shooters allowing LMR to make up the deficit to a score of 21 all at the end of the third quarter. Hinckley were unable to remain composed and keep possession in the final quarter, whilst LMR stepped up a gear and converted all of their opportunities to win the game 31-25, Hinckley just missing out on an extra point. Player of the match was Ashleigh Oakes.

Saturday 14th November – HLNC Match Report

A Team

Hinckley A team were looking to get back to winning ways at home to Stockton B this week. Both teams started out strong with end to end play and the score line going goal for goal, Hinckley just having a lead at the end of the first quarter 6-5. Fantastic defensive work stopped Stockton from catching up Hinckley’s lead with great interceptions from Kate Randle and Hinckley converting goals at a higher rate meant that Hinckley had a comfortable lead at half time of 18-10. Hinckley managed to maintain possession in the second half with Rebecca Oldfield linking the attack and defence to lead Hinckley to a 33-15 win with Ashleigh Oakes at Player of the Match.

Saturday 7th November – HLNC Match Report

D Team

Despite the wind and rain Hinckley D team remained cool, calm and collected with steady balls, tight marking and unstoppable shooting! Numerous interceptions turned the defensive play into attacking play as Hinckley kept applying the pressure to Alec High for the whole 60 minutes. The D team also made use of some excellent lob tactics after a great midweek training session from Coach Jayne Marlow. Final score was a magnificent 59-39 win to Hinckley and POM was Holly Hemsley.

Saturday 17th October – HLNC Match Report

Hinckley Ladies Netball A were at Home this week, looking to continue their winning streak against Ernesford A. Both teams started out hard with end to end play and great shooting from both teams meant the first quarter ended up 11-11. Ernesford continued to attack hard and despite great defending from Hinckley Ernesford managed to gain a 7 goal lead at half time. Ernesford continued to convert their opportunities in the shooting circle and despite fantastic steady play down court from Centre Rebecca Oldfield, Hinckley were unable to convert at the same rate as Ernesford, losing the game 26-46. Player of the match was Ashleigh Oakes at WA.

Saturday 3rd October – HLNC Match Report

HLNC E vs F Home Game

A Team

Hinckley Ladies Netball A team started the new season away at Harbury, who were new into Division 2 this season. Hinckley went out hard in the first quarter and great movement and accurate shooting from the shooting duo of Carmen Whitaker and Carole Payne created a 14-8 lead after the first quarter. Great defending and movement down the court allowed Hinckley a half time lead of 29-21. Despite better play by Harbury in the second half Hinckley maintained their composure to take the first win of the season 53-39. Player of the match was Ashleigh Oakes at WA.
